Highlighted on the cover! I had the privilege of writing about 16 West and other Hamilton-area church reuse projects for HAMILTON CITY Magazine.
16 West is an award-winning project that saw a designated church rapidly and cost-effectively transformed into rental apartments. The Made in Hamilton Issue also includes pieces on two organizations mentioned in my article: Indwell, the charity developer behind several church renewal projects, and Theatrix Costume House, a business that found its “forever home” in a former church.

With thanks to Tal Dehtiar, Rob Hansen and the team at Found Spaces Inc., Janice Brown, Graham Carroll, Sylvia Harris, Bianca Marijan, Tristan Miller, Tim Potocic, Renée Wetselaar, William Vipond Tait, Meredith MacLeod, and Marc Skulnick. Research for the sidebars on other church adaptive-reuse projects is indebted to the City of Hamilton’s Places of Worship Inventory, and I am grateful to the volunteers and staff behind this important initiative. (Some of the sidebar examples might even make a reappearance in my book about repurposed churches.)
HAMILTON CITY Magazine (est. 2022) is an independent magazine published out of the Cotton Factory.
