Renwald: Fighting to Save St. Giles

Legendary journalist Kathy Renwald visits St. Giles for The Bay Observer. Plus, ACO lists the former St. Giles United Church as a Building at Risk.

Thanks to Kathy Renwald for her story about St. Giles and efforts to save Stewart & Witton’s Neo-Gothic church at Main and Holton. Renwald ran into Friends of St. Giles member Lance Darren Cole as he was preparing to shoot a short documentary video about the church.

How can you help #SaveStGiles?

  • You can sign the petition to #SaveStGiles here.
  • Write to your councillor and let them know you support adaptive re-use of St. Giles church, and want to save it from demolition.
  • You can sign up to delegate in favour of saving St. Giles at the next session of the Hamilton Planning Committee. Delegates have until tomorrow, April 1, at noon to register.

St. Giles is the lone lower-city site on ACO’s Buildings at Risk list, which also includes Century Manor and Claremont Lodge.
